During the month of May, the Canadian Centre for Child Protection received special recognition for two of its education campaigns.

The Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association held a special event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of wireless telephony in Canada. The event paid tribute to outstanding organizations that have partnered with Canada's wireless industry to improve the lives of Canadians. The Canadian Centre for Child Protection was the recipient of a recognition award for its work in protecting Canadian children. The Centre was honored for the creation of its Mobile Safety Web site. Developed in partnership with TELUS, the site serves to educate parents and guardians about the potential risks posed to teens when using mobile phones, and to highlight strategies that can be used to help keep them safe.

Francopol, an International Francophone network for police training, awarded the Canadian Centre for Child Protection with a 2010 cybercrime award in the Prevention category for its textED.ca website. The texted.ca campaign, launched in January 2010 in partnership with the CWTA, is an innovative and interactive website designed to teach teens to be safe, responsible and respectful users of texting technologies. The innovative campaign provides teachers with a series of safety lessons and a Web site which they can use to teach their students about respectful text messaging conduct as well as important reminders surrounding the use of technology.
